Landing

This is an experimental painting in five panels exploring flight and landings on various surfaces representing human emotions of joy, fear, sadness, disgust and anger. The idea of landings and departures explores the notion of loss and gain as an emotional response in the human condition and the relationship with our planet. The colours are intricate and carefully manipulated to respond to each other beyond the individual panel to the five-panel composition and as a whole, to form ‘surprise’ in landing. The oil painting took a year to complete.
