Colour study
These colour studies focus on the use of 250 colours to compose the abstract. The reality of using 250 colours is a considerable feat in advanced colour management and composition. colpol developed a special colour wheel palette measuring 1.5x 1.0 m in size on which to mix the colours. There were four very expensive trials before the final studies emerged.
Using a single day painting strategy, to prevent distractions and overworking (which proved in previous studies to be a problem), the oil paints and mediums were mixed in the early morning with fast drying agents and painted on board. In the late afternoon the remainder of the colours were composed to the music of Ben Frost. There are two studies displayed in triptych.
